The casing-including the handle-is composed of a magnesium alloy that is tougher than ABS plastic. The hard drive is mounted in a shock-absorbing gel. The LCD and keyboard are sealed to offer protection against dust, moisture and spills. In addition, the ports are guarded with either water-resistant covers or rubber plugs.
